How to Get to Newark Airport by Public Transportation

    • 1). Take a taxi or car service to Newark Airport. Either option offers service to Newark Airport 24 hours per day, as long as you are within approximately 50 miles of the airport, which includes all of Manhattan. Fees vary per car service/taxi, and are increased if you are coming from New York City due to tolls. Be aware, however, that not all New York City taxis go to Newark unless you can guarantee a trip for you or another passenger back to the city.

    • 2). Use the Coach USA Newark Airport Express bus to get to Newark Airport. This option is for those just traveling from New York City. The one-way trip from New York to Newark Airport is $15, and the bus picks riders up at Grand Central, Bryant Park and the Port Authority Terminal. The bus leaves every 30 minutes between 6:45 a.m. and 11:15 p.m.

    • 3). Take the PATH train to Newark en route to Newark Airport. The two main PATH stations in New York City are located on 6th Avenue and 33rd Street and at World Trade Center. There are also PATH stations located in New Jersey in locations such as Hoboken and Pavonia/Newport. Take a PATH train to Newark (you may need to transfer to a Newark train if coming from Manhattan), and then hop onto a New Jersey Transit train traveling to Newark Airport. From there, you can transfer onto the AirTrain to your flight's terminal, if necessary. This option runs 24 hours per day, and the maximum cost is $9.

    • 4). Go to Newark Airport via New Jersey Transit train. This option is for those who are not close to a PATH station, or individuals looking for a more direct route to Newark Airport. New Jersey Transit stations are located throughout New Jersey, as well as at New York's Penn Station. The exact route and price varies based upon your starting location.
