- 1). Choose fabric for the chuppah. While traditional weddings have white chuppahs, you can also experiment with printed or textured cloth that coordinates with the wedding theme. Keep in mind that thin or delicate fabrics such as silk or chiffon are more difficult to sew.
- 2). Measure and trim the cloth using the fabric scissors. Since fabric scissors are specially designed to cut cloth, you will minimize fray. Most chuppah frames will fit about six square feet of fabric. Always measure a few inches beyond the final product to allow for the hem.
- 3). Sew an even hemline on the trim of the fabric. You can sew the chuppah by hand or using a sewing machine. Cut a button-sized slit in each corner to allow room for the screws that will attach the fabric to the chuppah frame.
