October Birthday Ideas
- Mad Hatter Day, Wear Something Gaudy Day, Frankenstein Day and Punk for a Day are just some of the bizarre holidays in October for planning a birthday party around. Have a dress-up party with small gifts for the best costume. Invitations can display a character dressed in the appropriate attire for the theme party with wording detailing the type and time of the party.
- Plan an outdoor scavenger hunt with prizes for the winner and runner-up. Have the party guests look for different-colored leaves or leaves from specific trees. You can hide items such as a gourd or pumpkin, corn stalks and hay or other items associated with fall. After the scavenger hunt, have an indoor location with hot chocolate and other warm foods including chili, warm appetizers and cake. The first clue in the scavenger hunt can be finding the address for the party.
- Plan a hayride at a pumpkin patch or with an organization that sponsors October hayrides in your area. Some places have a hall where you can have the refreshments before and after the hayride. If the facility has an outdoor fire pit, you can have a fire during or after the hayride with plenty of hot dogs for roasting over the fire and marshmallows, chocolate and graham crackers for s'mores.
- Plan the Halloween party according to age. For small children, you can decorate with pumpkins, streamers and hanging ghosts, but for older kids and adults, you can plan an indoor graveyard party or scary house party with a thrill around every corner. Choose an invitation with a Halloween theme. Plan a menu with orange, black and white colors.
