Canadian painter James Lumbers is highly recognized as a renowed and respected artist not only in Canada but across the globe.Private art and print collections can be found across the globe of his reflective images of Canada's pasts, motivating portraits, wilderness landscapes and his prominent ghost collector prints of the past and current. Lumbers is a graduate of the Ontario College of Art, born in Toronto in 1929, he travelled to the northern part of Canada to work an expedition. The encounter changed his life. Well known for his ghost collector prints, Lumbers carefully blends moments from the past and current to create a nostalgic collector prints that triggers pleasurable thoughts from different times long ago. Canada, the United States and the UK have been places that Lumbers has made countless TV, radio and exhibition appearances. Internationally recognized as a painter of remembrances,James is most recognized for the ghosting impressions that we are all familiar with which started on a summer afternoon in 1976.

Lumbers has developed a stout sense of history and this is mirrored in much of his paintings. "We are products of our memories and traditions. We must fight in our own way to preserve what we have." said James Lumbers.

While interviewing the Gretzky family Lumbers said "Some years ago when doing research for a painting of Wayne Gretzky, His father Walter showed me where Wayne took his first steps on a rink in their backyard. There was no acclaim at that time, just a little boy who loved to skate. The same was true for Gordie Howe as I discovered when doing research for his portrait. Their greatness and that of others came through love and devotion for the game."

"The History of Hockey Collection" was encouraged by these stories which help create the thought of producing a series of six collector prints symbolic of young people and their ambitions of aspiring to one day play in the NHL and representing their respective national hockey team; to play for teams like Toronto Maple Leafs, Montreal Canadiens, Detroit red Wings, New York Rangers, Boston Bruins, Chicago Blackhawks and Canada's olympic hockey team. Lumbers thinks that we all must be reminded now and then that things are achievable if you put enough effort into anything!

At a time when ever-increasing competition is reaching for consumer's cash, "The History of Hockey Collection" signed & numbered giclees are in high demand. This collection can considered and ordered at miroarts.com and at select art galleries. Several of these limited edition giclees are sold out and can only be ordered in the secondary art market. Only five of a series of six prints have been produced by James Lumbers and the final collector giclee will be launched sometime in 2013.
