A Plastic Bottle makes a darn good rocket!
Big boys love their toys. Well, there's a new gadget in town, and it's definitely not for indoor use! The Aquapod uses pressurised air and water to launch a plastic two litre drinks bottle up to 100 feet in the air. It a little bit technical too, you have to achieve the required level of pressure (60psi if you were wondering) using your own bicycle pump. As none of us have the kind of attention span required for measuring air pressure, especially when we're about to launch a rocket 100 feet in to the air, the Aquapod does this for you. Keep pumping until the check valve begins to release air, and you know you're there.
For the sake of safety there is a fifteen foot launch string. Very high tech. Move fifteen feet away, give it a tug and woosh, it's off! You can build this up a little by creating your very own command centre. All that is required is, well, nothing. Just an area fifteen feet away from the Aquapod!
There have been several bottle rocket kits available in the past, but none can compare with this. Built from high quality thick durable plastic, a pressurised release valve, three legs which add stability and it really does send your pop bottle up to 100 feet in the air.
The Aquapod is recommended for ages fourteen upwards. Having seen this gadget in action I'd recommend it for maybe thirty upwards, but once you get past fourteen, the relationship between common sense and physical age are pretty often non-existent.
The Aquapod is great fun, in an open area obviously, with no people, animals, greenhouses etc. You don't want to be concerned about the re-entry, just the lift off! A fantastic gadget gift not just for fourteen year olds, it's just as suitable, if not more suitable, for those of us that wish we were still fourteen.
