How to Find Records of Accidents That Occurred in North Carolina in 1965

    • 1). Contact the police department in the city in which the accident or accidents occurred.

    • 2). Provide the clerk with as much information as you have about the date, location and people involved in each accident. He will inform you if copies are available of the requested accident reports.

    • 3). Go online to the North Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles and Navigate click on "Request for a Crash Report (Form TR-67A)" or visit a DMV office and ask for the TR-67A. Fill out the form and sign it.

    • 4). Take the form to a DMV office or mail the form to: NCDOT-DMV, Traffic Records Section, 3105 Mail Service Center, Raleigh, NC 27699-3105; or NCDMV Headquarters Building, 1100 New Bern Ave.

      Annex Building, Room 101, Raleigh, NC 27697-0001. For a certified copy of an accident report, include a $5 check or money order, or bring the fee with you to the DMV office. Non-certified copies are free.

    • 5). Contact the parties involved in the accident you're researching to see if they may have a copy of the accident report.
