How to Inspect Tires on an Acura Integra
- 1). Make sure you've got the correct size tires into your Acura Integra if you bought this car used or the tires need replacing. The correct tire sizes for Acura Integra is P195/55R15 or P195/60R14 depending on the year of your Acura Integra.
- 2). Check the tire pressure (PSI) of your tires when it's cold outside and you haven't used the car for a few hours. Purchase a tire pressure gauge to check the tire pressure of your tires. Insert the tire pressure gauge into it the tire's valve stem (the nozzle on the side of the tire). Press the gauge down until you don't hear a hiss of air. Note the reading on the tire pressure gauge. The PSI for the front tires should be 35 and the PSI for the rear tires should be 33. Add or subtract air to your tires as needed.
- 3). Examine the tires for wear in odd places. Wear in the middle or on the edges may indicate over or under inflation. If the edges look erratic or feathered, the tires may be misaligned. If you notice wear in the same spots on all the tires, you may need to have them rotated.
- 4). Inspect the tread one of two ways. Take a penny and insert it into the tire groove with Lincoln's head upside-down. If you see all of Lincoln's head, the tread is gone and the tire needs replacing. You can also look for the tire wear bars, bars in the tires across the treads. When you can see these bars, the tire needs replacing.
- 5). Look at the tires for nails, cracking or other damage. You can deal with some tire damage by patching it. Speak to a mechanic for more information.
