He is the author of several books on foreign affairs, including Sumner Welles, Postwar Planning and the Quest for a New World Order, which won the American Historical Association's Gutenberg Prize. His latest book, Colin Powell: American Power and Intervention from Vietnam to Iraq, will be released in October.
