- A minimum of 12 hours of mandatory topics in OSHA 30 training courses include introduction to OSHA, fall protection, electrical hazards, falling object safety and caught in or between safety. Also required are topics including personal protective and lifesaving equipment, general health hazards and safety for stairways and ladders.
- A minimum of 12 hours of elective topics are required during OSHA 30 training. Topics include fire prevention and protection, materials handling, tool safety, welding and confined space entry.
- A minimum of six hours is required for optional topics. Optional topics can include subjects that are specific to the work site or can expand on some of the mandatory or elective topics.
- At the end of training, workers receive a training completion certificate. Trainers send a training report to OSHA and maintain them for five years.
