In sunny south Florida there are lots of great activities for you and your pre-kindergarten children. Along with white-sand beaches, Spanish-inspired food and beautiful parks, there are some destinations you definitely should consider. There is a great museum specifically for young children, a jungle-themed interactive animal attraction, and a fun amphibious tour. - This expansive multimedia museum is designed with children in mind. The 16 permanent exhibits teach children about responsibility, arts, health and the Miami area, including the Everglades. Your child will enjoy learning about money at the bank exhibit, where they can design their own bills. Another exhibit covers pet care. Other exhibits include a supermarket, a cruise ship and the Everglades. Check the website for great touring exhibits and temporary exhibits. The museum is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. every day except select holidays. Children under one year of age are free.

In a beautiful jungle environment, you can feed rainbow-colored parrots, watch the antics of the two orangutan comedians, Jake and Hanna, or get up close with kangaroos. The animals may startle some children, but those who can handle the noise will enjoy learning about interesting animals from around the world. The island is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends. Children under two are free.

jungleisland.com - This is a fun and informative tour that your kids will love. The tour takes place on a large amphibious bus painted like a bright yellow rubber duck. The tour guides are family-friendly comedians who will get your child singing and quacking. The tour covers the major destinations around South Beach, including Star Island, where you can see the homes of some of Miami's famous residents. The part the kids love the most will be when the bus hits the water--the bus is also a boat! This is a fun and interesting way for families to get a overview of the Miami area without boring the kids.
