Atlantic City is in the Jersey Shores region of New Jersey, offering opportunities for weekend trips on the Atlantic Ocean beaches. The city offers a wide selection of oceanfront casinos, which facilitate gaming activities and live music. Weekenders also have access to dining and shopping options on the beachfront Boardwalk or the Pier Shops at Caesars. This city also offers opportunities for recreation, including boating in Absecon Inlet or on the ocean. - Atlantic City has one of the highest concentration of casinos in the United States, with many of them located along the Boardwalk area. These casinos provide gaming floors with table games and slot machines, live music entertainment, on-site dining options and luxurious hotel rooms. Weekenders can take advantage of casino hotel's reasonable room rates and packages.
The Borgata Casino and Hotel is in northern Atlantic City, less than a mile from the Trump Marina. This casino hotel offers the "Suite Indulgence" package, one of the few hotel packages in Atlantic City available on weekends. This package includes an overnight stay in the hotel's Fiore Suite and a complimentary massage from the Spa Toccare, located on site.
Situated on the Boardwalk area, Caesars Atlantic City casino offers the Total Experiences program, which caters to large groups. This program is applicable on weekends. If groups book at least five rooms, the plan includes complimentary access to amenities such as free gaming lessons, concierge services and Caesars VIP Club. - Atlantic City is on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean and Absecon Inlet, which allows for weekend cruise excursions. One of the main boat charter companies in this oceanfront city is Atlantic City Cruises. This boat charter offers daily cruises from the marina in Historic Gardner's Basin.
Trip options include the Morning Cruise, a one-hour trip that allows passengers to see the Atlantic City skyline from the ocean; and an evening cruise--known as the Happy Hour Cruise--offering views of the Atlantic City skyline after dark. The Happy Hour Cruise provides adult beverages upon request.
These cruises run from June through September.
Atlantic City Cruises also offers a Dolphin Watching cruise in the afternoon. A marine biology expert accompanies passengers on this trip to provide information about dolphins. The cruise is available on weekends in October, the only Atlantic City Cruises option still in operation during that month. - During the weekends, Atlantic City hosts festivals and events throughout the year. Popular venues for indoor events include the Boardwalk Hall on Pacific Avenue and the Atlantic City Convention Center. Weekend events at these locations include the Starbound Gymnastics Competition and the Atlantic City Beer Festival.
Atlantic City is also home to the Atlantic City Food and Wine Festival. This event boasts culinary and oenology shows from renowned chefs, such as Paula Dean, Guy Fieli and Ted Allen. Hollywood's glitz and glamour arrive at this oceanfront city for the Atlantic City Film Festival, which usually occurs in January or February.
