- Window film is typically a tinted sheet that is applied to the inside of a window. It functions by stopping heat from infiltrating a space, such as in a car or high rise building.
- According to Boma International, the cost to install new, energy efficient windows, compared to retrofitting windows with film, is staggering. New windows cost $40 per square foot, as opposed to the more cost effective $3 per square foot for window film.
- Amazingly, though less expensive, window film actually saves 6.6 times more energy than new windows, according to a CPFilms white paper on window films. This analysis applies to all regions in the United States, with only small variations, whether it is saving on air-conditioning or heating costs.
