How to Wind a Toro String Trimmer

    • 1). Unplug the unit from the electrical power source and place the trimmer on a flat area. Remove the spool cap by inserting a wide-bladed screwdriver into one of the two slots on the spool hub. Twist the screwdriver to pop the cap off of the hub.

    • 2). Unscrew the spool in a counterclockwise direction. Remove the spool from the core. Wipe any debris from the power head with a damp towel and discard any trimmer line that remains in the inner spool.

    • 3). Measure and use snippers to cut about 9 feet of string trimmer replacement line. Insert one end of the line into one of the grooves on the spool. Rewind the new trimmer line in the direction of the arrows on the spool. Keep the line tight and in level rows as you rewind the string.

    • 4). Discontinue winding with about 6 inches of trimmer line left. Feed the end of the string trimmer line through the eyelet in the outer spool. Place the inner spool inside the cap. Replace the bump knob and cap. Plug the trimmer back into the power source or re-attach the spark plug wire.
