What is a Treadmill?

A treadmill is an electronic fitness equipment that simulates running.
Often used by athletes to train for marathons, to help hospital patients with walking difficulties and for anyone wanting to keep fit.
The benefits of using a treadmill instead of going out for a run are the ability to completely control the running environment.
With a treadmill you can alter the tilt or incline of the run to simulate running up-hill.
You can also accurately measure your heartbeat and therefore the number of calories you're burning.
Treadmills are great when the weathers not so great.
It might be raining, gale force winds or even hurricane weather but you can still go on a wind-free jog with a treadmill.
Treadmills are much safer when compared to running outside.
Since the treadmill offer a rubber surface you're much less likely to slip and fall over.
Treadmills also offer a 'kill-cord' worn around the jogger's wrist which will stop the treadmill if the user falls off.
The main danger associated with using treadmills is the ability to fall off the back.
If used properly treadmills provide a great form of excursive which is very healthy to humans.
Just make sure the kill-cord is worn or that you don't set the treadmill too fast to avoid injury.
There are many different types of treadmills from industrial machines which are much more durable, often seen in most gyms.
There are also much cheaper treadmills that are suitable for home use.
Some will even fold away for easy storage.
