Simple Woodworking Projects - How to Keep Yourself From Getting Hurt

Although simple woodworking projects can be incredible fun, there is also an element of danger involved in working with wood and sharp instruments.
When working on woodworking projects always keep the following things in mind.
1.
Safety Equipment:
Always wear protective glasses.
While hearing protection is necessary for some very noisy tools such as routers and surface planers, and latex gloves may be necessary when applying finishes.
2.
Use Sharp Tools:
Although sharp stuff can hurt you, using well sharpened tools can also keep you from getting hurt.
For instance if your saw is not sharp enough, it may chip debris of the stock which in turn can hurt you.
Besides having well sharpened tools will only make your work easier.
3.
Check for nails and screws:
These and other metal objects can prove extremely hazardous, especially when you are cutting the stock, so make sure that they have been removed before you start working.
4.
Do not use too many wires:
It is recommended that you use only a single extension cord as having too much wire in your immediate surrounding can greatly increase the risk of you getting caught in it and causing an accident.
5.
Disconnect the power before changing blades:
Although you might think that simply turning of the electric tool is good enough, you really should turn it off before attempting any blade changes.
6.
Avoid distractions:
Too many people have the dangerous habit of listening to music or having some other distraction in their vicinity.
This should be avoided at all costs.
