How Can Brain Cancer Be Prevented?

    • 1). Do not smoke or drink. Smoking and drinking can lead to other types of cancer. People who smoke are more likely to get lung cancer while people who drink excessively are more likely to get liver cancer.

    • 2). Live a healthy lifestyle. Eat well and exercise often. Get an appropriate amount of sleep every single night. Stay out of the sun and wear sun block. Too much unprotected sunlight can lead to skin cancer, or melanoma. People who take care of themselves are generally healthier and less likely to get sick.

    • 3). Visit your doctor regularly. Annual check-ups are important, even for adults. If you are experiencing any abnormal symptoms or behavior, check in with your physician. Doctors are trained to look for specific symptoms associated with brain cancer or tumors (as well as other types of cancer). Locating a tumor in the earlier stages is essential to fighting brain cancer.

    • 4). Avoid manufacturing and chemical plants that release vinyl chloride. When buying a house or looking for a job, research the surrounding area. Individuals who live or work around plants that release vinyl chloride into the air and water are at a higher risk for brain cancer.
