How to Install a Soft Top on a Jeep Wrangler
- 1). Install and lock in place the soft top frame. This is the metal frame that the top will connect to. The frame locks into place at the rear runner and on the front of the windshield, without the need for any tools. The runner is located along the sides of the Jeep, on the inside of the vehicle.
- 2). Grasp the entire top, with the windows set aside, and carefully lay it over the frame. The top has a plastic runner on the front; place this runner into the retainer on the front of the windshield.
- 3). Stretch the top carefully and place the plastic runners on the rear corners of the Jeep into their retainers.
- 4). Enter the Wrangler and snap the top to the frame. The snaps are located on the middle and rear sections of the frame.
- 5). Zip the back passenger windows to the top and place the plastic retainers into the runners. There are two zippers and two retainers on these windows. Similarly, install the rear window using the three zippers and the rear retainer bar that slides onto the window. Place the two ends of the rear retainer bar into the metal runners.
- 6). Take the front windows and place the three metal pins into the grommets located on the door. Snap the corner of the window onto the door. The snap is located on the door nearest to the windshield. Place the retainer into the runner to hold the window in place. (This step is to be skipped if there are full steel doors on the Jeep.)
- 7). Snap the soft top onto the snaps that run along the frame. These snaps are located over the driver's and front passenger windows. This will keep the top securely in place.
