How to Change the Fuel Filter in a Nissan

1). Trace the fuel line, the rubber hose that runs to the carburetor, back to the fuel filter, which is either a plastic or metal container that houses the paper filter. Remove the filter from any retaining bracket that may connect it to the firewall of the engine or other engine component. Place a drain pan beneath the filter to catch gas from the fuel line.
2). Hold the filter with one hand, and use the other to remove the clamp and rubber hose from the carburetor side of the filter. Switch hands and remove the clamp and rubber hose on the opposite side of the filter. Dispose of the old filter properly.
3). Install the new filter by placing the hose from the carburetor on the "out" pipe of the fuel filter. Hold the filter with one hand and install the clamp and hose with the other. Switch hands and install the other hose and clamp. Place the new filter in the retaining bracket if applicable.

1). Find the fuel filter under the car by following the fuel line from the gas tank.
2). Remove the fuel filter and install it just as if it were under the hood, but understand that the fuel line is metallic tubing rather than a rubber hose.
3). Use a wrench to remove the fuel filter, and install the new filter in the same manner for an under-hood filter.
