The Long and the Short of Stays in New York

These days it's difficult to say with much certainty that you are going to be staying in any one place for a long period of time, so being flexible with you plans has started to become more of a necessity than it
once was. But if you are moving to a city like New York for work or study, can you have flexibility when it comes to your accommodation, too?

Until just a few years ago you really only would have a couple of options when it came to the sort of accommodation that was going to be available to you. You could either have looked for a cheap
apartment that had a relatively short lease, or you could have stayed in a hotel; neither option being ideal for people who where only going to be in the city for a matter of a few months.

The hotel option would have given you the ability to stay for as long as you needed to, but it would have cost you plenty of money to have that flexibility. Finding an apartment may have cut the amount that
you were going to have to pay to stay in the city, but the chances were that accommodation within your budget would have been further away from where you needed to be, and, even the shortest of leases
would most likely have run for longer than you were needing to stay in New York.

But another alternative was becoming available - it was just that not many people were (or are) aware of Midtown Manhattan extended stay hotels. With the arrival of places like Hotel99, Manhattan boutique hotels were becoming more accessible to
people on a budget, people who were only going to be in the city for a few months, rather than a few years. Of course, the likes of the Hotel99 Manhattan boutique hotels have everything that you could
ever want from a top hotel in New York; they just don't have the unaffordable price tag that comes with staying in a hotel for several months at a time.

And what should you be expecting to find when looking at prospective Midtown Manhattan extended stay hotels?

1) Cost. You should be checking to see just how long you are able to stay for at the rates quoted. You should also check to see what type of room you can get for your budget as there are a number of
room configurations available, and you may not always save as much money as you think by choosing a smaller room with fewer amenities.

2) Location. You will obviously want to try to find a hotel that is close to where you are going to be working/attending school; and it should be within easy reach of bars, restaurants and the type of
entertainment venues that you like to frequent.

3) What your room comes standard with. As mentioned in number 1, there are a number of room configurations that you can choose from. You may prefer to have a small room with a single bed,
shared bathroom and cooking facilities, and little else.

Now that you have some idea of what you should be looking for in your new New York accommodation, you should start your search at http://www.Hotel99.com to get a good benchmark for your comparison with
other extended stay hotels in the center of the city.
