The Best Fonts for Logos

The best font for your logo is the one that best represents the business or organization the logo will be representing. Using a font designed to look like bamboo for a business that works on cars probably would not be very relevant. But a font made of paw prints for a pet sitting business would attract potential customers.

    Arial

    • Arial is a very common font that is often used as the "default" font for websites, advertisements, logos and engraving. This article is likely being viewed in a format of Arial. There are several varieties of the Arial font, such as bold black, rounded or curved. Arial is one of the most versatile fonts available. This font is easily read at any size. Arial is also one of the oldest digital fonts. Since this font is so widely used, some companies may feel that a logo with Arial may be "white noise" or unnoticed in a busy enviroment.

    Impact

    • Impact is a very bold font with thick, blocky letters that stick very close together. This font is best used in places where there will be a low density of words and a very large area of space to print them on. Impact may be difficult to read if the font is very small, but in large format will catch the attention of passersby. Some letters, such as the lower case "a" and the lower case "p," can be confused at long distances. Impact is often used in monochrome settings where the black letters will stand out from a white background.

    Times New Roman

    • Times New Roman is another very old digital font, and has been used in predigital-era times. This font is often seen in newspapers, magazines and books. Though it is less used in logo production because Arial has taken over that scene, it is making a slow comeback. This font is easily read as a plain font, bolded, italicized, or bolded and italicized, which produces curvy, eye-catching letters. Times New Roman is best used in smaller spaces where every character space counts, such as business cards or small-sized logos.

    Trajan Pro

    • Trajan Pro is a sleek font that looks best in all capital letters. These letters are styled after the Times New Roman font, with a hint of Arial added in. The letters are slightly wide-spaced, requiring more room than either of the older fonts. Trajan Pro is very "official" in appearance and would do best in a professional logo.
