- 1). Measure the length of the area where the bricks will be installed. Run a tape measure from one end to the other. Have a helper hold the tape measure at one end if necessary. Record the measurement.
- 2). Run a tape measure from the ground up to the desired height and record the measurement. Run the tape measure from the front to the back and write down the depth measurement.
- 3). Determine the size of the bricks to be used. For example if a brick measures 8 inches high, 8 inches deep and 16 inches long, figure the length of the installation first. If that measurement is 160 inches, 10 bricks are needed to cover the length.
- 4). Allow for three rows of bricks if the depth measures 24 inches, and allow for 10 bricks to fill a height of 80 inches.
- 5). Multiply the number of bricks in length by the number of rows needed. This gives you 30. Multiply 30 by the number of bricks necessary for the height, which is 10. This equals 300 bricks for installation.
