\"Central Park 5" Thugs Make Out Like the Bandits They Really Are
When the redoubtable Donald Trump condemned last week's $40 million settlement with the €Central Park 5€ in a Daily News op-ed on Saturday as a €disgrace€ he was engaging in what was, for him, unusually kindhearted rhetoric.
Forget disgraceful. In fact, New York City's socialist Mayor Bill DeBlasio's multi-million dollar deal with the five black and Latino thugs who confessed to and were convicted of the 1989 rape and bludgeoning of 28-year-old Trisha Ellen Meili in Central Park was nothing short of a total debasement of municipal morality and as such qualifies more as civic infamy than mere disgrace.
Antron McCray, Korey Wise, Kevin Richardson, Yusuf Salaa, and Raymond Santana were all in their teens in 1989 when they were caught and accused of the horrendous crime against Ms. Meili, €The Central Park Jogger.€
When rapist-murderer Matias Reyes, then serving a long overdue and well-deserved life sentence, fessed up to the attack in 2002, €The 5€ reiterated their old claims of police coercion for their separate confessions and, after some had served as many as 13 years in prison, they were released and almost immediately filed a lawsuit against the NYPD, the City of New York, and everyone else their lawyers could think of.
McCray, Wise, Richardson, Salaa, and Santana were not wronged by the justice system and there were many reasons why they were picked up as suspects in the first place, namely their involvement in the rampant criminal chaos existing at the time in New York City prior to Mayor Rudy Giuliani's tenure.
As Ann Coulter explained, €Liberals are opposed to rape in the abstract, but when it comes to actual rapists, they're all for them. The D.A.'s [Democrat Robert Morgenthau's] report was based solely on the confession of Matias Reyes, career criminal, serial rapist and murderer. Reyes had absolutely nothing to lose by confessing to the rape - the statute of limitations had run - and much to gain by claiming he acted alone: He got a favorable prison transfer and the admiration of his fellow inmates for smearing the police.€
Coulter added, €While dumping on the police for screwing up the investigation, Morgenthau wouldn't let the cops interview Reyes themselves, even though his €confession' was the sole evidence that he raped and brutalized the jogger by himself.€ According to New York journalist Nicholas Stix, a fellow inmate said that Reyes €told him he heard the jogger's screams and raped her only after the €Central Park Five' had finished with her.
Considering that the five were able to pinpoint the exact location of the attack and other evidence proving their involvement, it seems Reyes was telling the truth for a change.
Following Richardson`s conviction, his lawyer, Howard Diller, conceded, €They convicted themselves with their own statements€ and McCray subsequently detailed what actually happened that night: €Everybody started hitting her and stuff. She was on the ground, everybody stompin' and everything... I grabbed one arm, some other kid grabbed one arm and we grabbed her legs and stuff. Then we all took turns getting on her, getting on top of her... I just like, my penis wasn't in her. I didn't do nothing to her... I was just doing it so everybody would just like, would know I did.€
Rewarding that band of animals with $40 million, even if the settlement was a bargain since they had wanted $50 million each, is the equivalent of rewarding the Taliban by freeing their top five terrorists in return for a deserter, which the liberal-leftist in the White House did!
The saving graces in the New York travesty is that the €Central Park 5€ were off the streets while in prison and will undoubtedly piss all those millions away within months. Unfortunately, they will then probably revert to prior form of rampaging and raping. After all, that's what they did before April 19, 1989 and they became millionaires as a result so why not?
