The Dr. Pepper Bottle Fiasco

Have you ever gone shopping and became too thirsty, especially at an outdoor estate sale? On weekends, Selma Cramp enjoyed going to estate sales, but her husband, George did not.
The idea of visiting someone's home to gaze at and purchase their old knick knacks made George feel older than he already was.
One very hot summer day, Selma convinced him to visit an estate sale with her.
As they wandered for a few hours glancing at the antiques in a one-hundred year-old home, George got tired of walking and sat down on an antique chair.
As he rested, George realized that he had been building up a great thirst.
He got up slowly to look for something to drink.
There were no water fountains, fountain drinks and the more he looked, the thirstier he became.
Then he spotted a case of carbonated beverages which were sitting in an old Dr.
Pepper crate.
He grabbed a bottle and noticed that the cap was on very tight.
So, he took out a trusted Swiss Army Knife, pulled out the bottle opener feature and popped it open.
He gulped down the entire bottle of dark liquid.
Not bad, he thought.
When he was done with the bottle, he put the empty glass container in the crate.
Then he picked up another bottle, opened it up and drank the entire dark liquid.
But as the last few drops dripped into his mouth, he noticed how strange the beverage tasted.
A young man spotted George swigging down the bottles.
He ran toward him yelling.
"What are you doing?" Don't drink those!" "I couldn't find anything to drink and...
" George's eyes suddenly popped out.
His stomach felt heavy, and quickly felt like knots were being tied together there.
Suddenly he bent over and vomited the ancient contents.
Selma saw George bent over and rushed over to him.
"What happened?" "He drank two, ninety year old bottles of Dr.
Pepper that belonged to my grandfather," the young man quickly replied.
"Microbes in the drinks are making him sick.
" George had to lie down on the ground.
Everyone present at the sale quickly walked over to see poor George writhing in abdominal pain.
Fifteen minutes after a customer dialed 911, George was quickly lifted on to an ambulance and taken to the nearest emergency room.
There, his stomach was pumped.
Then, he was moved to a room where he waited long enough for the microbes to leave his system.
The young man from the estate sale came to visit George.
"I came to see how he is doing," he said to Selma.
"He's doing much better.
The doctor said he could go home tomorrow," she replied.
"That's good news.
Listen, there's another matter I hate to bother you with," continued the young man.
"I was selling those old drinks as part of the estate sale.
So, I need to be refunded for them.
" "Of course! How much?" replied Selma.
"Each bottle costs 35 dollars, so the total is 70 dollars.
" Selma took out her purse and paid the young man.
He thanked her and left.
Later that day, a nurse walked into George's room and asked him if he was feeling well enough to eat or drink something.
George thought about it for a minute and told her that he might.
The nurse said, "Well, your lunch will be ready soon.
But all we have to drink is Dr.
Pepper.
