A Take on the Future of Backpacks

Ever since the history of man is recorded, backpack has been used by different race and civilization in many different forms and shapes. Due to the many facets of our life that requires backpack to be used, this is something that is not unexpected. If you are say someone with obsession for traeling and used to doing it on your own (free-and-easy), you know how a good backpack can conveniently store all sort of belongings, from gears to invaluables to clothings. If you are say a college student, you probably know how in the past backpacks were used to carry those heavy textbooks but one that has evolved in functionality as the use of notebooks is becoming mainstream. Backpacks are not limited to these use cases and fashion lovers have turned to backpack as one attractive fashion accessories.

One rapidly growing backpack is among the professionals. In large part, this is attributed to the laptop becoming a mainstream computing station and mobility in the workplace. Take a good look at offices around you and I bet that with laptops being more than powerful to accomplish most daily routines such as managing spreadsheets, organizations are abandoning desktop PCs at an incredible pace. If you ask most professionals what they think of backpack, the answer would be different if the question is asked yesterday as compared to today. In the past, most would tell you that backpack does not look cool and the sling or more elegant looking bag would be much preferred. But fast forward to today, backpack has become the preferred option given the amount that one has to travel. This trend has quickly caught the attention of backpack makers and they have been quick to address this market. Today, brands such as Samsonite are among the major players in the market and because of this, if you are looking for best laptop bakcpacks for professionals, you will be assured of great look and function.

When you are buying a new backpack, it is important to define exactly what purposes is your backpack expected to serve. If you are clear about this from the beginning, it makes your hunting a whole lot easier. The reason why I'm saying this is because backpack itself is a generic term but there is a wide array of different needs or niches and there are few reputable brands that dominate each niche. For example if you are looking for the [best rated college backpacks, you would not be looking at Tetron but High Sierra instead]. This means that you can immediately narrow down your options and focus only those brands that you will most likely end up buying anyway.

Outdoor enthusiasts form one major market segment of the overall backpack market. Outdoor is a generic term and it encompasses activities ranging from camping to light hiking to professional mountaineering. I know the first name that will flash to most people's mind when talking about backpack would be North Face. It is no doubt a good brand but it is better reputed as fine college backpack maker rather than outdoor. In this context, Tetron is the brand that most outdoor enthusiasts would be looking out for. But it is important to set your expectation right though as the best outdoor backpacks, say the best backpack for hiking, may not be one that is most visually appealing.

In my final analysis, I firmly believe that backpack will continue to find its uses in many parts of our lives and it is something that will never go out of relevancy. But having said that, I believe that changes (in terms of size, design and vogue) will constantly occur. If you ask what would the size of backpacks be in the future, I am sure no one has the definite answer. This is because the answer is determined by the size that future computing devices will take. With all the talk and hype, it seems that bendable display is something that is near the horizon and when it reaches mass adoption, we may see the size of laptops shrinking to possibly half or less of the current size. This should give you an idea on what future backpack sizes will be like.
