How to Hang Tropical Light Fixtures
- 1). Mark the spacing between the hanging chains on the ceiling. Obtain this distance by looking at the top of your tropical light fixture and transposing that measurement up to the ceiling. Use a stud finder to locate these dimensions on a stud. You may have to alter the distance slightly to accommodate your ceiling studs.
- 2). Drill a pilot hole into the studs that is a diameter slightly smaller than the threads on the eye hooks. Screw the eye hooks into the ceiling, and tighten them with pliers.
- 3). Unwrap the tropical light fixture, and find the hanging chains that came with it. Hang the light from the chains, and ensure that it is hanging level.
- 4). Install GE plant and aquarium bulbs into the tropical light fixture. These provide the correct light spectrum that is most beneficial to plants. Regular fluorescent tubes provide light that is not used effectively by the plants.
- 5). Plug in the tropical light fixture, and turn it on. Leave this light on from 14 to 16 hours during the day in the winter to give your tropical plants the light they need.
