Thanks to the information provided by Drs. Richard & Karilee Shames on “Estrogen, Menopause and Thyroid,” women may be able to avoid estrogen therapy altogether. Do you know how extremely important it is for you to get your thyroid checked? I cannot stress this point enough to you. Many studies have shown that women in menopause are sometimes suffering from a case of low thyroid rather than a reduction in estrogen and the two can be easily confused. This goes back to the fact that it is extremely important for women to have regularly scheduled appointments with their physician to ensure you are having the proper treatment.

If you are not in favor of receiving estrogen therapy, you should definitely have thyroid blood testing conducted first. You may still have to have thyroid hormone therapy but it would prove to be extremely beneficial to you.

For those of you who are not familiar with the thyroid function, it plays a major role in our everyday lives. Are you aware that if you have a case of a low thyroid that your menopausal symptoms can be enhanced? Our thyroid is our little boost of energy. It is what gets us going and acts as our fuel so that we can go through our changes from menopause more easily. Have you ever wondered why you have so much energy in the mornings? The adrenal gland can sometimes be confused with the thyroid gland but our thyroid gland gives us an enormous amount of energy making it possible to carry out our daily activities.

You have to act now. Tomorrow is not promised to anyone and while we still have the fight, the will, the control and the breath still in our bodies, we have to give ourselves a fair chance. Maybe estrogen therapy is not right for you but there is a treatment out there that is. Don’t sit and wait for the cure to come to you, you have to go looking for it. This is your life and you only get one.
