- 1). Plug in the lights before you hang them to ensure they all work. If necessary, replace broken lights. Replacement lights should come included with the lighting kit.
- 2). Find a desirable spot to hang the lights. The process for hanging the lights is essentially the same, regardless of where you hang them.
- 3). Measure with your measuring tape every 1 foot along the wall or ledge where you intend to hang the lights, and draw a mark with the pencil. These marks represent the locations where light hooks need to go.
- 4). Hold a light hook against one of the marks, and hammer a nail into the hole, or holes, of the hook. You may want someone to assist you with holding the hook, but it isn't necessary.
- 5). Plug the lights into an electrical outlet and hang the string in the hooks. You can choose to have a straight, taut string, or let the string droop down an inch or two between each hook.
