How to Present the North Carolina Flag

    • 1). Keep the North Carolina flag from touching the ground. The flag should be carried between destinations by a couple of people to keep the flag from falling.

    • 2). Carry the flag vertically with the help of two or three people. It should never be held horizontally with the surface parallel to the ground.

    • 3). Fly the North Carolina flag just below the U.S. flag. The U.S. flag code dictates that no other flag shall fly above it. If the North Carolina flag waves on its own pole adjacent to a U.S. flag, the U.S. flag should be hoisted up first and taken down last.

    • 4). Refrain from draping the North Carolina flag on cars, furniture or other monuments. The State flag should either be folded and stored in a cool, dark place or flown from a sturdy flag pole.
