Daily Green Ideas

    Canvas Grocery Bags

    • Invest in canvas bags that you can take on your shopping trips. Canvas bags can accompany you to the grocery store, the farmers' market, the florist and even the mall. Keep a stack of canvas bags in the back of your car. Retrieve the bags when you need them and place your purchases in them instead of using paper or plastic bags.

    Compost

    • Composting is easy to do. Purchase a metal composting pail for your kitchen. Hide it under your sink or in your pantry. Toss food scraps such as fruit peels into the pail. Once the pail is full, empty the contents into a larger bin in your backyard. You can use the composting material for gardening in your yard or can sell it to those who need rich, organic material for their plants and flowers.

    Go Paperless

    • Log on to all of the places that send you bills and opt out of a paper billing. This significantly reduces the amount of paper arriving at your doorstep every day. Email or call catalog companies to remove your name from free catalog distribution, especially if you have not ordered something from these catalogs in the last year.
