List of Poses From Geri Yoga

      Geri Halliwell, aka Ginger Spice from the famous girl group the Spice Girls, teamed up with yoga trainer Katy Appleton to bring Geri's body to the height of fitness through the transforming power of yoga. "Geri Yoga" is a DVD produced in 2001 to bring Geri's love and knowledge of yoga to the public. The workout is approximately 90 minutes long and features Katy Appleton teaching Geri and a man, Nate, and walking them through the postures and even correcting form. "Geri Yoga" brings a real life feel to a yoga video.

    Warm Up

    • Warming up is an important part of any workout. Geri Yoga cycles through several poses during warm up and the section lasts approximately 21 minutes. It starts with bringing each knee to the chest and breathing deeply. The exercises then move to the floor with a reclined belly twist followed immediately by double and single leg stretches. The exercise moves to a half bridge and a calming cobra pose. Lastly, there is a natural progression between swan pose to downward facing dog, low lunge and up to a standing position.

    Sun and Moon

    • This part of the DVD starts with two different styles of "Sun Salutation" several times in succession. As the name would indicate it is followed by several "Moon Salutations," which moves from side to side instead of the forward and backward of the sun.

    Strength

    • Strength lasts approximately 15 minutes and includes standing tree pose. This section is fast-paced, cycling through eagle, dancer, mountain and two separate warrior poses. Warrior eases into Triangle pose and fluidly transforms into extended side angle pose before entering a wide angle standing forward bend.

    Bliss

    • Bliss contains only floor poses and is meant to prepare the body for cool down. It lasts approximately 17 minutes. Laying flat on the back the group starts with head to knee pose with one leg bent. It then begins a seated twist and seated forward bend. The exercise moves back into Cobra, Child's pose and bridge. The workout moves back to knees to chest from warm up and a shoulder stand, one of the most difficult poses included. It concludes with kneeling fish and nostril breathing exercises.

    Chill

    • Chill lasts for 10 minutes and completes the workout entirely in corpse pose. There is some guided meditation and relaxation exercises included in this section.
