Pueblo is located about 110 miles south of Denver via Interstate 25. It is in the southeast region of Colorado and has an elevation of 4,695 feet above sea level. Once known as Fort Pueblo, and credited for being home to Colorado's first permanent building, Pueblo itself was founded in 1889 with the merging of four different cities. The city is home to Colorado's state fair, held annually at the end of August through the beginning of September. - Pueblo's location leads to dry conditions.colorado springs, colorado, rocky mountains, mountain image by Earl Robbins from Fotolia.com
Pueblo's location in eastern Colorado gives the area a dramatic topography, which also affects its climate. Compared to other parts of the state, Pueblo within the Arkansas Valley at more than 4,600 feet has a much lower elevation, yet these elevations change quickly in this area to more than 14,000 feet. This can cause thunderstorms whenever enough humidity is in the air when the cool air of the mountains meets the warm air of the valley below. The mountains also affect the moisture received in the city, most of which is lost between the Pacific Ocean and the high mountains. - Pueblo's temperatures in the fall are generally moderate with cool evenings.temperature goes up image by Nataliya Litvinova from Fotolia.com
Colorado's highest temperatures were recorded in the Arkansas Valley. Luckily, these high temperatures occur in the hottest parts of the summer months. By the time the autumn months come around, temperatures have moderated to moderate highs and with cooler nighttime lows. September's temperatures range from highs in the low 80s to lows near 50 degrees. Expect October's to range from around 70 to about 40 degrees, November between the mid-50s to low 20s, and December from the high 40s to the mid-teens. - Pueblo receives very little precipitation.rain image by tomash from Fotolia.com
