How to Troubleshoot a GE Refrigerator PS123

    • 1). Check the circuit breaker or fuse if the refrigerator is not working. Reset the breaker or replace the fuse as needed. Unplug and plug it back in to ensure the unit is not in showroom mode, which may prevent normal operation.

    • 2). Leave the door shut for several hours if possible when the motor is running excessively. This may result if the door is opened frequently or left open for periods of time.

    • 3). Adjust the temperature control to a colder setting if the food is too warm in the refrigerator or to a warmer setting if food is too cold or frost is forming on the outside of food packaging.

    • 4). Ensure the ice maker switch is set to "On" if the ice maker is not working. Make sure the water supply line is turned on and the child lock is not activated. Press and hold "Lock" for three seconds to release the child lock, if necessary.

    • 5). Empty the ice bin and wash well with warm water and a few drops of liquid detergent if ice develops a smell or taste. Dry the bin and return to the freezer. Ensure food is closed or wrapped tightly to prevent odors from entering the ice.

    • 6). Poke ice through the ice dispenser with a wooden spoon if ice gets jammed in the ice chute or water is noticed on the floor underneath the freezer. Use the ice maker frequently to prevent ice from creating clumps.
