Knowing the luggage requirements for each individual airline is important. Be sure to check your travel documents to make sure you are looking at the right airline's luggage requirements. - Delta Airlines allows each person to have one carry-on bag and one personal item. A carry-on bag can be a laptop computer bag, a purse, briefcase, camera bag or diaper bag. The personal item can be a jacket or coat, an umbrella, stroller, gift bags, or food and drinks purchased after the security checkpoint.
The carry-on bag must not have a combined width and height larger than 41 inches. When you get to the airport, be sure to place your carry-on bag in the carry-on baggage check to make sure it will fit easily into the overhead compartment. Any bags larger than the requirements will have to be checked. - Delta allows each person traveling one checked bag, weighing no more than 50 lbs. and no higher than 62 inches. If your bag exceeds the limit, additional charges will apply.
Delta requires you to pay a fee if you check a bag. The fee amount varies depending on your travel destination. If you're traveling within the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico or the U.S. Virgin Islands, the cost is $23 USD for the first bag and $32 USD for the second bag. If you check in online and wish to pay the luggage fees online, the cost is $25 USD for the first bag and $35 USD for the second bag.
If you're traveling internationally between Europe and India, your first checked bag is free. If you check a second bag at the airport it's $50 USD; if you check in online the bag fee is $55 USD.
For all other international travel, two checked bags are allowed with no luggage fee. Bags must still fit the luggage weight and height restrictions.
If you are traveling first or business class, or are a sky mile medallion member, there are luggage exceptions.
