How to Hang Multiple Paintings for Art Shows
- 1). Gather all the paintings that need to be hung in one area. Most art shows require that the art is set up with artists wire. Place the wire about one-third of the way down from the top back of the piece. Hold it in place with screw eyes or mirror hooks.
- 2). Arrange the art on the floor first. This gives you a chance to see how different pieces look next to each other. Rearrange the grouping until it is a pleasing combination of sizes.
- 3). Measure the display. Be sure the grouping is centered and has enough space in between each piece of art so that they all can be viewed independently.
- 4). Create a template with a large sheet of butcher paper. Lay the paper on the ground. Place the paintings on top in the arrangement you have decided upon. Trace the outline of each painting. Lift each painting to mark a spot for the nail. It should be about halfway between the top of the painting and the wire.
- 5). Tape the template to the wall. Hammer nails in the designated spots. Remove the paper. Tear it off around the nails and discard.
- 6). Hang the artwork. Position lights to properly show off all the paintings. Add spotlights, lamps or replace lightbulbs to provide extra light in the room.
