How to Repair the Lining of a Horse Blanket
- 1). Clean your blanket thoroughly in order to make sure you can see the total extent of the damage and that the material will be clean and ready for any repairs you are making.
- 2). Examine the tear and see how bad it is. A simple tear that is only a few inches long can be repaired by using an iron-on patch. Simply heat an iron, place the blanket facedown on a flat, heat-resistant surface, and iron the repair patch on thoroughly.
- 3). Assess the length of the tear, and if an iron-on patch will not suffice, use your needle and thread to sew the lining closed. Sewing by hand is a good way to make sure the lining is fully repaired and tight. Make sure to choose a thread color that matches the color of your blanket, as the stitches will show on the outside of the blanket.
- 4). Contact a professional seamstress to get a bid on a repair if the tear is huge, jagged or beyond your skill at hand-sewing. Especially in the case of a waterproof blanket, it may make more sense for you to have a professional make the repair.
