Updated April 27, 2009.
Definition:
Inability to mimic a learned motor task or behavior, such as combing one’s hair. For example, a stroke survivor is unable to demonstrate by pantomime how he would use a comb to fix his hair. Ideomotor apraxia results from damage to the parietal lobe on the dominant side of the brain.
