Texas A&M International University Description:
Texas A & M International University is a public, four-year college in Laredo, Texas, a diverse city on the border with Mexico. TAMIU supports about 6,500 undergraduate students with a student/faculty ratio of 21 to 1, and the university offers a wide range of graduate and undergraduate programs. The university is especially proud of its pre-med, pre-engineering, pre-law, and pre-dental programs.
Professional fields such as criminal justice and business are particularly popular among undergraduates. Highly recognized, TAMIU was included in the 2011 edition of US News and World’ Report’s College Rankings in the “Regional Public Universities-West” category. TAMIU has a diverse campus and was named by The Princeton Review as fifth in the nation for providing the “Greatest Opportunity for Minority Students.” TAMIU students stay engaged outside of the classroom, and the school offers a long list of intramural sports including shuffleboard, foosball, and table tennis. The university also has over 60 student clubs and organizations. When it comes to intercollegiate athletics, the TAMIU Dustdevils compete in the NCAA Division II Heartland Conference. The university fields five men's and six women's varsity sports as well as cheerleading.
