How to Kill Ants & Yard Bugs

    • 1). Place 1 1/2 cups of pipe tobacco into a quart of water and let it sit overnight to soak and mix up well. Strain the mixture in the morning to remove tobacco from the solution. Do this wearing rubber gloves to protect skin.

    • 2). Pour your solution into a garden spray bottle that attaches to your hose and head out to your lawn. Locate any ant mounds and spray them with a liberal amount of the mixture. You can also simply pour the solution over hills too.

    • 3). Spray the rest of your lawn area liberally with the mixture, making more as needed depending on lawn size. This mixture works to kill other bugs in the yard, like spiders or fleas, along with ants. Do this treatment once a week to prevent bugs.

    • 4). Pour some baby powder on the ant hills you find leftover, or over any group of ants you see away from the mound. This will further help kill any remainders, and baby powder will usually blow away or soak into the ground without harming soil.

    • 5). Mix together two cups of ammonia, with 1/4 a cup of lemon juice, and 1 cup of unscented baby shampoo. Pour solution into your garden hose sprayer and spray down your lawn. This will help kill and discourage flying bugs, like mosquitoes. Do this one or two times a week.
