The hippie style included long hair for men and women, flowing shirts and dresses, bell bottom pants and earthy shoes, such as flip flops and other shoes made of natural materials. Love beads and headbands were worn by men and women. Hippies wore small, rounded sunglasses rather than the larger style favored by disco and other styles of the day.
- The late 1970s saw the explosion of disco and disco fever. The disco costume was very loud and wild. Disco fashion for men included big hair, large sunglasses, platform shoes, bell bottom pants, large-collar shirts and jewelry. Women wore flowing dresses with large collars or V necks, platform shoes, cinched belts and jewelry. Women also started to fluff their hair during the disco period. There are many costumes for men, women and children featuring disco style.
