Coming to stores this week: a souped-up new Xbox 360 console system to match that hands-free Kinect controller adapter due Nov. 4.The slimmer Xbox 360 also has touch-sensitive controls for power and disc tray operation. The current model weighs just shy of 8 lbs and presumably the Xbox 360 slim weighs less.
Microsoft also announced a deal with ESPN to deliver free access to more than 3,500 live sports events (college and pro football and basketball, Major League Baseball) annually for Xbox Live subscribers. Live costs $50 per year.
An online survey by Frank N. Magid Associates found that consumers want easier-to-use video game controllers. About a third of those aware of Microsoft's system or Sony's PlayStation Move wand-like control system, due later this year, are interested in buying, analyst Mike Vorhaus says. "I would think the Nintendo guys are worried."
Today at the E3 conference, Xbox 360 announced their new version of their XBox 360. This version will feature a slimmer model of the console, that will have substantially more impressive features. The new XBox 360 will be much quieter than the previous one. It will also come with a 250 GB hard drive, which would have taken quite an investment for the previous version of the console. The wait will not be all that long for the new console, as the Xbox 360 slim version begins shipping later on in the week. It will cost around $300 US, but will include a number of features that were not included in previous versions of the XBox.
