How to save money on baby clothing

One of the most exciting parts of having a baby is the shopping. There is no doubt that you would enjoy looking through cute clothes for your baby. Despite the excitement and joy that it can bring, you have to be practical and you have to think whether it is good for your budget or not. Here are tips on how to save on baby clothes.

1. Don't be shy to ask for hand my downs. You probably have a lot of friends out there who have had a baby and are not using the clothes anymore. You can also ask your family if they know someone who still have baby clothing that are no longer being used. Keep in mind that in your baby's first year, they will outgrow their kids really quick and spending on a ton of baby clothes that will only be used for a couple of month would be such a waste. The good thing about hand me downs is that you can get them for free from your friends or you can get them for a cheaper price if they decide to sell it to you.

2. Go to yard sales and thrift stores. You'll be surprised to what these stores can offer you and your baby's needs. Sure enough, there will be a part there just full of baby and children's clothing. Price tag in yard sales and thrift stores are very reasonable and you can even haggle for it if you are going to buy a lot of things. This is the best time to buy the essentials of your baby such as tees, pants, socks, bibs etc. Just don't forget to stick to good brand name clothing and to double check for stains and tears. Just because you're buying them at a cheaper price doesn't mean you don't get quality items. You can take more advantage of these stores by going there on discount days; you're more likely to get better deals this way.

3. Go to consignment shops to save more money. There are a lot of shopping destinations for special baby clothing. These stores however do not accept anything than good condition clothes which makes the price tags a bit higher than thrift stores. But for this one, you will surely find what your baby needs, whether it is a suit, swim clothes, a sweater vest etc.

4. Make use of the internet and go check baby clothes online. You can even go to sites like eBay and Craigslist because there are lots of items there that come with a reasonable price. You can also get better deals without the hassle of leaving your home.

5. Buy clothes that are out of season. Don't worry; your baby will use those clothes soon. The only thing you're after is the price. Buying clothes that are off season are cheaper and it will help you save a lot of money. If you buy in seasons items, you will end up paying for more.
