Nonsteroid Performance-Enhancing Agents in Athletic Competition
In a companion article, we discussed the clinically relevant issues regarding the abuse of testosterone and other androgenic anabolic steroids (AASs) among competitive athletes. With an increasing focus on the regulatory detection of AASs, many athletes are turning toward the use of non-AAS performance-enhancing agents. In this article, we focus on the potential efficacy and toxicity of non-AAS ergogenic agents used in athletic competition.
