Ways to Treat Acne at Home
- Baking soda is alkaline, and can help remove dead skin and impurities from the skin. Baking soda also kills Candida bacteria, which contributes toward treatment-resistant acne. To use baking soda for acne, mix 2 tbsp. of baking soda with 1 tsp. of water, making a paste. Gently massage the paste onto the skin for 30 seconds, then rinsing with water. Use a baking soda scrub up to two times per week.
- If you are using anything alkaline on the skin, such as baking soda, it is important to balance the pH in the skin by toning with an acidic toner. Apple cider vinegar makes a wonderful and effective toner that not only protects the acid mantle on the skin, but will reduce acne and prevent more acne from forming. Apply apple cider vinegar by soaking a cotton pad with apple cider vinegar, then gently wiping it onto the skin. Let dry. You can use apple cider vinegar every day.
- Probiotics are beneficial bacteria that can help the flora of the digestive system when taken routinely. When the digestive system is working properly, the body can absorb nutrients and can expel waste as it should. This can help reduce acne breakouts because the skin can be slightly relieved as a waste remover. Probiotics can be found at health food stores or a natural foods market in the refrigerated section. Follow the instructions on the bottle for correct daily dosage.
