How to Repair the Vacuum End of an Electrolux Hose
- 1). Unplug the Electrolux's power cord from the wall outlet, if it is plugged in. Twist the end of the hose off the socket on the base of the Electrolux.
- 2). Place the end of the hose on a work surface. Stretch out the hose to better reveal the tear.
- 3). Apply rubbing alcohol to the edge of a soft cloth. Wipe along the tear on the hose in a back and forth pattern, using the edge of the cloth. Let the hose air-dry before continuing.
- 4). Place a strip of flexible silicone sealant tape over the tear. Smooth the tape onto the hose with your fingers. Remove the cap from the vinyl sealant tube. Insert a pin into the open end. Twirl the pin to enlarge the hole being made. Dispose of the pin in the trash.
- 5). Place the open end of the tube against the hose, to one side of the tape. Press in on the tube to dispense the sealant as you push the tube along the length of the tape. Stop pressing in on the tube once you reach the other side of the tape.
- 6). Place the edge of a wooden stir stick against the hose, to one side of the tape. Drag the edge along the hose, over the tape, until you reach the other side. Let the sealant set for the amount of time specified in the instructions.
- 7). Place another strip of flexible silicone sealant tape over the sealant that is over the tape. Repeat the procedure with the tube to cover the tape with sealant. Repeat the procedure with the stick to smooth out the sealant on the tape. Dispose of the stick in the trash. Put the cap back on the tube. Let the sealant set for the amount of time specified in the instructions.
- 8). Screw the end of the hose back on the Electrolux. Plug the power cord back in.
