Wall Accents

• Enlarged, framed photos of the planets on the walls of your child's bedroom can give the area the look of a space museum. The glaring gold and brown colors of the planets Venus and Mercury, as well as the fiery orange and red shades in Mars and the combination of brown, white and blue showcased on a picture of Earth will make neutral-colored walls stand out. Shades of silver, dark blue and black are ideal for the accent wall, as well, and will serve as the ideal backdrop for a collection of large, glow-in-the-dark wall decals shaped like stars, the moon or planetary rings.
  
  

Furniture Accents

• A lamp with a base that is shaped like an astronaut's helmet can serve as the signature piece in your chid's solar system-themed bedroom; the piece will complement the black or navy blue wooden bed and dresser you've purchased. A bed shaped like a rocket is ideal for the space, as well; lamps with a base that resembles a planet, positioned on nightstands, can complete the room's theme. Add knobs that resemble small planets to the nightstands or dresser for an eye-catching finishing touch.
  
  

Floor Accents

• Select an area rug for the bedroom in a shape of a ringed planet to represent Saturn. Or choose a rug in the shape of an astronaut or the moon to place by your child's bed or in the doorway of the bedroom. To further emphasize the planetary theme, purchase red, black, brown, blue or white bean bags to provide your child with additional seating, and position the "chairs" in a ring in the corner or center of the room.
  
  

Window Accents

• Hang curtains in the bedroom that feature images of stars, planets and rockets, or purchase solid-colored curtains along with fabric that has a solar system decor theme and sew a border onto the curtains. To draw more attention to the curtains at night, attach decals to dark blue curtains so the window treatments will resemble the starlit sky. Choose decals that your child can attach to the actual window as well, and help her create a replica of the solar system in the center of the bedroom's main window.
