- 1). Measure the dimensions of your mantle. A measurement of six feet long by one foot deep is usually standard.
- 2). Cut a length of fabric measuring the exact length and width of your mantle.
- 3). Fold one long side of the fabric under one inch. Sew the edge in an even seam.
- 4). Hem the other three edges of the fabric by folding them under 1/8 of an inch and sewing the edges.
- 5). Snip a length of lace border that measures the same length as the long edge of the fabric strip.
- 6). With fabric glue, adhere the lace border to the fabric edge that has a 1-inch hem. This creates the border that will overhang the mantle. Lay your scarf on your mantle, and arrange decorative items on top to keep the scarf from sliding off the mantle.
