Toilet to Tap Water - Another Way to Ruin Our Drinking Water
For those that want to lead a healthy lifestyle and believe that pure drinking water is one of the ways to improve health, be careful of the many claims made ny the supporters of municipal tap water.
When you compare reality to hype, tap water comes up short.
Plus, because of the heavy amounts of chlorine that is used in an attempt to purify found in municipal water, the water coming out of the tap smells and tastes like water from a swimming pool.
Anyone who reads the EPA reports on municipal tap water and reads beyond the hype knows that tap water contains many contaminants that are harmful to the human body.
In addition tap water smells and tastes like swimming pool water because of the addition of heavy chlorine to kill bacteria.
The basic problem with municipal tap water is that the technology used to purify polluted source water (polluted rivers, streams, reservoirs etc.
) is not able to produce 100% water on a mass scale required by a growing industrialized country.
The result is that the Environmental Protection Agency that regulates municipal tap water has relaxed the standards of purity for tap water.
But municipal water managers, who are essentially politicians attempting to save their jobs and maintain their share of municipal budgets, have now dreamed up a new scheme to cover the inefficiencies in the tap water purification processes.
This scheme points to the total disregard most municipal water managers have for the health of their customers.
The new scheme , introduced in Clearwater Florida, would allow the water company to dump waste water directly into the aquifer in an attempt to use the aquifer as a purification method.
The theory is that what technology lacks in terms of purification, mother nature will make up the difference.
This is akin to saying that the beaches of Florida will clean up water pollution resulting from offshore oil spills.
Many citizens have complained that this "Toilet to Tap Water" scheme will not improve the purity of the tap water but will result in contamination of the aquifer.
Aside from the gross aspects of drinking recycled toilet water this tampering with the natural source of pure water sets a dangerous precedence.
