Top Tips on Removing a Virus From Your Computer Effectively

Having viruses in computers seems to be an inevitable problem for most people.
Most people may think that removing viruses is difficult but in some cases, it can actually be a fairly easy task to deal with.
Viruses can affect your computer's speed and performance with a sudden unusual sluggishness.
The web browser can be greatly affected as it experiences slowness, locking up, lots of pop-ups and redirection to other web pages.
It only becomes worse as the virus stays longer in your computer and affects the operation of basic system functions and applications.
It will also be harder to remove a virus the longer you delay its removal.
If you find out that your computer has a virus, you should act immediately.
You can do some quick steps to remove non-major viruses.
First, you must disconnect Internet connection by pressing the button in an external modem, turning off the modem power or by physically disconnecting the Internet cable.
This is important since viruses obtain power through Internet connection.
Then, you should close any web browser you're currently using.
If the viruses have locked it and you couldn't close it, you can run PRCview which is a program that provides a list of all software applications running on your computer.
So, if you find that your browser is in the list, highlight it and stop the process using the control menu.
Other applications need not be terminated.
Scan your computer for viruses by running anti-virus and anti-spyware programs consecutively, not simultaneously.
You must have a reliable anti-virus software such as Norton or AVG installed in your computer.
Running a full scan may take a couple of hours.
After the results are done, choose the option to delete infected files.
Through this, the detected viruses will be removed.
At this point, minor viruses will have already been removed from your computer system.
However, if there are stubborn viruses which couldn't be removed, especially if they have been attached to working processes, you need to do elaborate steps to remove these viruses.
Overall, the steps mentioned above can be very useful in eradicating most viruses.
