Frozen Foods That Have Low Glycemic Counts

    Frozen Vegetables

    • Many vegetables are very low in the glycemic index. Even sugary vegetables are still considered to have a low glycemic count. For example, carrots are relatively low, averaging about 16 when uncooked. Frozen green peas and frozen corn have slightly more at 39 and 47, respectively, but they are still viable options.

    Sugar-Free Desserts

    • Although most sugary treats and ice creams are banned when watching sugar intake, sugar-free options are fine. Opt for a sugar-free chocolate or fruit-flavored frozen pop or a sugar-free ice cream sandwich. These treats are low in the glycemic index because they contain little to no actual sugar.

    Frozen Meat

    • Many types of meat are low-glycemic foods and can be ideal for low-sugar diets because they are both healthy and can be made delicious without adding any sugars. Meats such as chicken, turkey, lean beef, pork and fish are all generally low in the glycemic index and can be found in the grocery store's freezer section.
