How to Update McAfee Drivers for XP

    • 1). Install the latest XP updates to update all your installed drivers (See Resources). Open your Windows XP computer management utility and open the device manager.

    • 2). Locate the McAfee hardware drivers you wish to update. Right-click on the icon and hit "Properties". Hit the "Driver" tab. Click on "Update Driver".

    • 3). Select "No, Not This Time" when asked "Can Windows connect to Windows Update to search for software?" Hit "Next". Hit "Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)" when asked "What do you want the wizard to do?" Hit "Next".

    • 4). Select "Don't Search. I will Choose the Driver to Install" when asked "Can Windows connect to Windows Update to search for software?" Hit "Next". Select "Have Disk" when prompted by "Select the device driver you want to install for this hardware". Hit "Browse" from the "Install From Disk" page. Locate your McAfee download with the "Locate File" box. Click the INF file that displays the file list and hit "Open". Hit "OK" in the "Install From Disk" page.

    • 5). Select your McAfee hardware from the "Select the Device Driver You Want to Install for this Hardware" dialogue box. Hit "Next". Complete all further installation update instructions. When the update is completed and you are asked if you wish to restart your computer, hit "Yes".
